I know what you're thinking, these photos look a bit dark.. unfortunately that was necessary and all will become clear!
If you follow me on social media, especially Pinterest, you'll know what I'm in the process of making over my dining room.. it's a long, long, long process but I'm getting there slowly! One of the first things I wanted to change was the lampshade. It was a minty green cone shape (don't ask it came with the house) and I hated it. As you might know I'm a brand ambassador for the fabulous ValueLights so of course they were the first people I thought of! The shade I went for is the Wood Effect Veneer Pendant Lampshade with Birds, because I love the "hidden design" effect. It brings a little bit of magic into the room, as well as light and nature!
As you can see from the photos above, before you put the shade up you can only see the bird design on the inside.. from the outside it just looks like a (very trendy) wood effect shade; which I adore on it's own actually.
But once it's installed and dark outside, when you switch the light on this happens:
It's actually pretty difficult to take a photo of, but as you can see the birds on the branches stand out really well, and you can still see them on the inside if you stand underneath. Switching it on for the first time felt quite exciting, like a special reveal!
The shade is easy to install, you just need to take down your old one.. for me this means taking out the bulb, and unscrewing the white surround which lets the shade drop off the fitting, then do the same process in reverse to fit the new one. No wiring required, just a chair to stand on! I think it looks lovely in our dining room, but to be honest it would look amazing in any setting.. there's even a table lamp to match (perfect if you have the lampshade in your bedroom) which you can find here. My dining room makeover is far from finished.. storage is driving me mad, but just changing the shade on the ceiling has made a hugh difference to the look and feel of the room. It also means that when the light is on, it's a softer light rather than harsh on your eyes! If you're looking for a quick, easy way to revamp a room I would definitely recommend you take a look at this lampshade, or indeed any of the lights from ValueLights. Costing just £24.99, the Wood Effect Veneer Lampshade with Birds is perfect for any space! I'd love to know your thoughts, would you use this lampshade in your home? Which room? Drop me a comment! Stay safe, x
