Whether you are looking to buy clothes for that special man in your life or you are indeed that guy, shopping for men's fashion can get a little predictable. You may have been purchasing from the same labels for years, but new and exciting men's clothing brands are emerging all of the time, while even some of the most familiar names are releasing lines that are forcing the world to give them a second look.
So without further ado, what's men's clothing brands do I think you should focus your purchasing on in 2016? Here's my selection... feel free to suggest your own!
Searching for it in Google may be a bit of a pain, but this combined London menswear label, design consultancy and ecommerce store has been making an impact with style-conscious men since its establishment by former Head of Menswear Design at Aquascutum and Creative Director at Bally, Graeme Fidler.
Several's clothing is rooted in British subculture, with its supremely well-crafted and quietly luxurious pieces showing how relevant to the mid-2010s the most traditional male wardrobe staples can really be. Pea coats, premium Scottish knits and button-down shirts just some of the categories of item to have been given the Several touch.
Not all of the must-be-noticed menswear brands in 2016 were only founded yesterday. Indeed, Dickies - or the Williamson-Dickie Manufacturing Company, to give its much lesser-cited name - can trace its history to Texas in 1918, the setting for the establishment of the U.S. Overall Company.
But the most relevant detail of Dickies' past for today's male fashionistas is its heritage in workwear, which befittingly enough in today's postmodern world, has been turned on its head to the service of sheer style. Just take a look at the current selection of Dickies pants, which redefines sharp, workmanlike fashion.
The fact that this Milan brand can count the likes of pop colossus Justin Bieber and Juventus footballer Paul Pogba among its fans might lead you to think that it's just another high fashion brand with no relevance to the average person's life. However, the truth is a bit more complicated than that.
Letasca was founded in 2014 by Italians Elbio Bonsaglio and Edoardo Giaroli, with the philosophy of combining form with function for men needing to carry all manner of items around with them during their day-to-day lives (pretty much every guy, then). Its debut collection, for example, featured a reversible multi-pocket vest with 10 pockets for carrying everything from sunglasses and a travel book to a smartphone and tablet.
Another under-the-radar men's fashion label that is rapidly gaining acclaim for its pieces that look beyond mere fashion, W.R.K. (Work, Rest, Karma) produces functional, purposeful pieces signifying the belief of the New York brand's founder Matteo Gottardi that it isn't clothes that make the man - it's the way he lives his life.
If that sounds all very deep, that's because it is. However, the philosophising was clearly worthwhile judging by the collections themselves, with the Spring 2016 range - for instance - taking its inspiration from the mindful simplicity of the most cutting-edge minimalist architecture.
