Sweet Haven is a lovely story about a young woman who is quite happy with her life in her small hometown, but is pulled in an unexpected direction due to family expectations when her grandfather is taken ill.
She struggles through work and family commitments, only for everything to be turned on it's head when an old school acquaintance returns to the town he always wanted to leave.
Addie isn't looking for romance, or for a new job, she only wants to keep to herself and out of her mother's way. Instead she ends up taking on more responsibilities, an unruly puppy and standing up to her mother!
With suspense, humour, romance and crime it is the perfect novel for escaping from everyday life for a short while. I laughed, gasped and cried; the holy grail when it comes to reading!
I love the tone and feel of Shirlee McCoy's writing, it's warm and welcoming with a gorgeous rhythm. The characters are beautifully developed, you really feel as though you know them by the end of the story.. even the ones you don't necessarily like!
I would definitely recommend this book, it kept me gripped from start to finish which led to a late night for me (!) and I look forward to reading more from the author!
