Contemporary homes are stunning, as they bring all of the latest interior design elements together to create an indoor environment that’s clean, chic, and inviting. But if you don’t have the budget to infuse contemporary home design into every room throughout your house, you can focus on your living room first. This is one of the best rooms for contemporary design, as well as one of the easiest rooms to work with. Keep reading for a few tips that will help you achieve your design goals beautifully.

Upgrade Your Radiators
Adding designer radiators into your living room will immediately help you upgrade your living room and make it more contemporary. Check out the many designs that are available from www.warmrooms.co.uk to get started. Options include lovely aluminium radiators that are energy efficient and good for the environment, stainless steel radiators, and bench radiators, so you can choose the one that works best in your space.

Choose a Modern Colour Scheme
Colour plays a major role in the world of interior design, and if you want to create a contemporary living room, you’ll need to work with the right colour schemes. Bold, bright colours aren’t the way to go with this type of design. Instead, you should stick with neutral shades with pops of earthy colours. So, for example, you can combine a light grey with a brown on the walls, and then incorporate blue as an accent colour. Another option would be to combine taupe with amber, and then add pops of green and blue.

Metal and Glass
A great way to modernise your living room is by incorporating more elements of metal and glass throughout the space. If you have stairs that lead to a second floor from your living room, consider upgrading the handrails with a metal and glass option. You can also switch a wooden coffee table for one that features a glass top held up by metal legs. Or, if you want to keep the wooden coffee table top, you can get one in white that features glass legs instead. With so many designs available, you can mix and match and find the pieces that will complement the size of your living room best.

Maintain an Open Floor Plan
As best as possible, maintain an open floor plan for your contemporary living room, regardless of how large or small the room is. Keep clutter out of the room by using shelving and furniture that doubles as storage. Mount your flat-screen TV to one of the walls, too, so it won’t have to take up space on a piece of furniture that it would otherwise sit on.

Add Modern Art on the Walls
When it comes to décor in a contemporary living room, take a minimalist approach and stick with one or two pieces of modern art that are eye-catching without overdoing it. This will add an element of interest to the space, as well as some additional colour.

By incorporating the simple tips above into your living room, you can transform it from old and dated to modern and attractive!
