A couple of months ago I gave ProCoal a first try when I put their Marine Moisture Masks to the test (read it here) and immediately became a fan, so when the chance came to put their new Activated Charcoal Exfoliating Face Scrub through it's paces, of course I said yes!
As someone who struggles with dry patches (ugh, always between my eyebrows, why?!) I have a set rule of exfoliating twice a week and my favourite method is through face scrubs.
Of course, ProCoal get an automatic thumbs up because their products are cruelty free, free from parabens, SLS, mineral oils & paraffin, AND it's made in the UK. Hooray!
Obviously the headline ingredient of the scrub is it's Activated Charcoal, which comes in these fun little balls inside the scrub that burst when you rub it into your skin, a tiny thing but I enjoyed it. The charcoal will help to clear out your pores of all that nasty stuff that causes spots. Yuck. There's also Allantoin, which helps natural skin exfoliation (your skin is constantly shedding old cells) and Calendula Oil for restoring water balance, which should help to keep that pesky dry skin away.
It's easy to use, just massage onto damp skin then rinse off before gently patting the skin dry. Done.
So what did I think?
It's great. I could stop there but I'll give you a little more detail don't worry... it feels nice to rub into skin, especially the little activated charcoal balls I already mentioned, it lathers up pretty well even without SLS (which is a foaming agent) and it rinses off easily. It didn't leave my skin feeling tight or "scrubbed", just soft, clean and fresh. After a couple of weeks of use I also think my skin, in general, isn't quite as dry which I definitely appreciate.
For £8.99 (you can buy it here) it's a decent price for something that works so well and it's now forefront in my bathroom cabinet (I actually got rid of my other scrubs when I decluttered this week, so this is the sole survivor!).
I'd definitely recommend you give the ProCoal Activated Charcoal Exfoliating Scrub a go and I can definitely see myself purchasing a replacement when this one runs out.
If you decide to try it out, let me know what you think in the comments below, or tell me about your ways of keeping dry skin under control!
Stay safe, x
