An Introduction
Hello and an early Merry Christmas to you! Okay, so that's maybe going a bit far isn't it? But we are
here for festive reasons!
Now while advent lasts for 24 days (if you're lucky your calendar may have a bonus choccy for the 25th),
Advent on smeethsaysfashion.com is only going to last 4 days. Stingy I know.
I've found 3 of my favourite Advent calendars on the market, that are each different to each other
and also to what you're probably used to! On day 4 I'll do a roundup feature with a few others
that are worth considering as we countdown to Christmas.
Enjoy!

I am a complete history buff and I'm not ashamed to admit it. The tudors were always one of my favourite eras when I was studying, which makes this Hampton Court Palace advent calendar a perfect fit for me!
This calendar is part of a range that includes the Tower of London and Kensington Palace designed for Historic Royal Palaces (who do a great job looking after some of the most important palaces in the country), with all 3 featuring a Christmas scene made up of some residents you might remember from your own history studies.
There are 24 doors and each one has a traditional Christmas icon behind them.. some of them you'll easily recognise, but others could provide a great history lesson prompt for the kids, especially if they're interested in history anyway.

While this isn't one of the more flamboyant of advent calendars, it is special. Not only does it raise money for the upkeep of some of Britain's most important historic buildings; each calendar is made in the UK and they're hand-painted with a few well-placed accents of glitter so that it really will stand out, whilst remaining sophisticated and traditional.
At £8.99 I think the Hampton Court Palace advent calendar is really good value, especially when you consider just how well made it is and you can even re-use it next year as long as you're careful with the doors!
I'm really looking forward to seeing what's behind each door next month and I'm hoping to use it as a teaching prompt for the little ones while I'm at it... might as well make use of all the years I spent studying!
I love this calendar so much I'm seriously considering buying the others in the range as well; I know they'd look amazing lined up in our dining room.
I'd love to know your thoughts on this advent calendar... is it something you can see you or your family enjoying?
Stay safe and get festive, x
