Aldi Specialbuys New Year Fitness smeethsaysfashion review
What was your New Year's resolution this year? Was it to get fit or do more exercise? Have you stuck to it? I don't set New Year resolutions, but I am getting back into action after an injury over Christmas, so I'm starting 2016 with a new fitness focus.

If you're just starting your fitter 2016 journey; firstly well done on sticking with it for 2 weeks, not everyone makes it that far! But if you are struggling a little have you thought it could be what you're wearing that's the problem? If the clothes you're exercising in don't fit well, or if you just don't like them, then you're not going to be comfortable and you won't get the most out of your chosen activity.

Aldi's Specialbuys New Year Fitness range (in store now) is all about helping you look and feel confident in your new fitness regime! The range includes clothing, equipment and accessories all for an amazing price that won't hurt your bank balance just after Christmas.

As I said I'm just coming back from an injury, so January is a gentle month for me as I ease back into it, I'm sticking to daily yoga to stay flexible and I've been trying out some of the clothes from the new range! You can see a slideshow of the clothes I tried out below, with more info further down as well as a full rundown of the range.
The range includes:
  • Exercise Bike £69.99 - I swear by my exercise bike, it's lovely to be able to cycle in the winter months without getting cold and wet, plus you can watch tv at the same time!
  • Wireless Activity Tracker £24.99 - With all the features of far more expensive brands this little gadget will help you keep track of your progress via a smartphone app. It also monitors your sleep, and it's water resistant.
  • Fitness Trainers £14.99 - I need some new shoes for when I head back outside, so I'm hoping to find some in my local store as these have cushioned insoles for extra comfort.
  • Ultra Slim Glass Analyser £12.99 - Not just a set of good looking scales, it measures your BMI, body water percentage and body fat percentage!
  • 8kg Kettle Bell £9.99 - For the more advanced out there, kettle bells are a great item to incorporate into your exercise especially if you're taking on cross fit!
  • Ladies Yoga Sweatshirt/Crossover Top £9.99 - It's January so you need to stay warm!
  • Ladies Yoga Leggings/Pants £8.99 - Perfect for keeping those legs warm!
  • Ab Trimmer £7.99 - I've never really gotten on with these, but I know people who swear by them!
  • Bluetooth Sports Headset £7.99 - Headphones and wires get in the way when you're running or cycling, so cut the cord and go wireless!
  • Foam Roller £7.99 - Foam Rollers are definitely the marmite of the fitness world, I love them but they can be uncomfortable when you first start using them! I wouldn't be without one though.
  • Ladies Active Fitness Capri - I tried these out below!
  • Ankle/Wrist Weights £6.99 - I use wrist weights quite a lot when I'm in full fitness mode, but be careful if you're just starting out, you don't want to strain your muscles early on.
  • Fitness Mat £6.99 - You need a mat, it's non-negotiable!
  • 2.5kg/ 5kg Kettle Ball £5.99 - Lighter option for those just starting out with weights!
  • Dumbbells £5.99 - the go-to piece of equipment for fitness beginners, I incorporate them in my pilates workouts!
  • Ladies Functional Sports Bra - I tried this out too!
  • Ladies Yoga Top - keep reading for more on this!
  • Gym Ball/ Yoga Mat £4.99 - Bargain price for both of these (sold seperately)!
  • Hula Hoop/ Skipping Rope £4.99 - I'm useless with a hula hoop and I haven't skipped since I was 10, but good fun!
  • Ladies Fitness Tops £4.99
  • M/L Active Fitness Shorts £4.99
  • Men's Fitness Tops £4.99
  • Fruit Infuser Bottle £3.99 - I've never used one, but they look great!
  • Push Up Bars / Ab Roller £3.99 - Give yourself a helping hand if you're just starting out!
  • Workout DVDs £3.99 - Some people find it easier to follow instructions so pick a dvd and get started!
  • Microfibre Towel £3.49 - You'll need to wipe that sweat away!
  • Pilates Socks / Yoga Socks £3.49 - Keep reading to see my toes in these!
  • Anatomy Sports Books £2.99 - Learn a bit more about your body.
  • M/L Trainer/Sports/Crew Socks £2.99

Now let me show you the couple of items I got my hands on to try out!

First up is the yoga vest, which I quite simply adore. It is so comfortable! It's got a racer back so you don't have to worry about straps falling down, and it fits like a dream. It's made of special fabric so that it regulates your body temperature and absorbs moisture. I cannot recommend it highly enough, it's amazing!

Ladies, have you ever put a bra on and just thought "wow you fit me perfectly"? I don't think I ever have, until I put this one on. It is the most comfortable bra I've ever worn, which is exactly what you want from a sports bra. It keeps everything in place and is breathable. I simply adore it. I almost want to wear it all day! The racerback style means it will look great under any top and doesn't restrict you at all.

Another amazingly comfy item are these capris! They fit like a glove, are super soft and have a handy zip! What more could you ask for? They are perfect for yoga, but I know that I'll wear them for other exercises too when I'm back to full fitness!
I absolutely love them, they don't restrict movement at all and are seriously comfortable to wear!

If you ever find yourself wobbling around trying to balance on one leg with barefeet try it in socks, you'll notice it's far easier to keep your balance. The socks fill in the gaps around your toes and increase surface area in contact with the floor. These yoga socks are super soft and comfortable, and they are slip resistant so you wear them on the mat without worrying about falling over when you're in downward dog! They are cushioned to give your feet some support, and have arch support for the back of your foot, great if you have dodgy achilles like me!

Well that's it, I think this range is fantastic and as usual with Aldi I was blown away by the prices! Are you trying to get fit this year? What do you think of the new range? I'd love to know your thoughts, so drop me a comment below!

Stay safe, and keep moving! x
