Moisturising is probably the second most important step in my skincare (after cleansing) because I'm pretty prone to getting dry skin, but if I can make my moisturiser do more? That's even better.
Which is why I knew I wanted to try the FadeOut Even Skin Tone day and night creams, because not only do they hydrate, they also work to brighten your skin to give you a more even skin tone.
Like most people I've had breakouts since I was a teenager, and while thankfully they mainly just appear around my period now I still have the scars from the past and having a more even skin tone is really the main reason I wear foundation.
The creams claim to be effective in 4 weeks, so I've been putting them to the test to see if they could make a difference on my face!
FadeOut Advanced+ Vitamin Enriched Day Cream
First up is the day cream because it's the first thing I put on my face after cleansing in the morning. It goes on really nicely and gives an instant hit of hydration which my skin definitely needs when I wake up. It does take a while to absorb so I'd recommend putting this on then doing something else before you start to apply primer and makeup, especially if you have oily skin because otherwise you might find things moving around a little more than you'd like.
The main thing I like about the day cream is the fact that it's SPF 25. Most moisturisers seem to either focus on heavy hydration or lightweight SPF.. but I want both! It cuts out an extra SPF step and when combined with my foundation (which always have SPF in them too) it gives me pretty good protection for the rest of the day.
The day cream contains a number of ingredients to even out the skin tone, including: mulberry extracts, liquorice extracts & sodium lactate which work together to reduce brown pigmentation. Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) which reduces hyperpigmentation by counteracting melanin in the upper layers of your skin. Lactic Acid which works as a gentle exfoliator to again remove pigmentation, as well as helping retain moisture and reduce the look of fine lines. The cream also contains Vederine which protects your skin and retains moisture, and Kahai Oil which is rich in Vitamins E & F and retinol to hyrate.
I found the day cream to be a really great moisturiser to start the day and it kept my skin feeling hydrated and fresh throughout the day. As long as it's given time to properly absorb it didn't give me any issues with layering primer and makeup on top and did stop any dry patches from interfering with my foundation.
FadeOut Advanced+ Vitamin Enrinched Night Cream
I love a thick night cream. It really makes me feel like my skin is going to get boost of hydration while I sleep and this night cream is perfect for that. It actually absorbs quicker than the day cream so you don't need to worry about that yucky sticky pillow feeling as you try to fall asleep but you'll still feel the benefits in the morning.
Like the day cream it contains lots of great natural ingredients to even things out including the mulberry and liquorice extracts, sodium lactate, niacinamide, lactic acid, Vederine and Kahai oil. But it also has a few extra to make this night cream really work while you snooze; Sacha Inchi Oil is a source of Omega 3 and together with Rosehip Oil (a source of vitamin A) they promote skin repair and boost moisture levels, helped along by an extra boost of vitamin A.
While the day cream soothes and moisturises, you can actually feel the night cream start to work on any problem areas. If you have any breakouts you'll know that some products can make those areas sting slightly when you apply, which is what this night cream does. When it hits a spot or some broken skin you'll get a quick zap of ouch but it didn't aggravate or irritate my skin in any way so it's just a very temporary discomfort.
After using both products together for a couple of weeks I have seen a difference in my skin. I still have some old breakout scars and because it's that time of the month I've also got a couple of new breakouts, but in general my skin looks brighter, my pores on my cheeks look a bit more refined and my bare skin definitely has much more a glow than it ever has before.
I will definitely keep using both the day and night cream, and at under £15 each I'll definitely be buying them again when I run out.
Do they work? Absolutely.
Would I recommend them? Without a doubt!
