I'm fed up with winter now. There, I said it! It's been incredibly unkind to my skin this year, and I've had enough. If you follow me on twitter you'll know that I've complained of dry skin (particularly on my face and hands) quite a lot lately. Thank you to everyone who recommend products or remedies by the way!
But then a product that promised to ease those isues arrived, and the box it came in was pretty gorgeous too..
Now onto the product itself... I'm sure most of you have heard of Elizabeth Arden's Eight Hour Cream right? I'd heard the name, knew it was supposed to be amazing, but never actually tried it for myself. Well this is a new Eight Hour Cream All-Over Miracle Oil, and you can use it on the face, body and on your hair (so it does everything).
It claims to work for up 12 hours, providing long-lasting moisturisation and protection, whilst also smoothing and boosting radiance. When you add it to your hair it smooths and adds shine, without weighing your hair down.
The oil is actually quite scientific as it contains Tsubaki Oil which is known for it's anti-inflammatory, anti-wrinkle, anti-oxidative, smoothing and soothing effects. Apparently, it was even used by Geishas to get that silky smooth skin. It also contains plenty of Omega 6 and 9, which nourishes skin whilst soothing and protecting at the same time. All of this provides a boost to your skin's natural collagen which leaves it firmer and healthier.
The oil is easy to use, and smells wonderful.. it's actually very relaxing to apply which makes it perfect for just before bed. Elizabeth Arden recommend spraying directly onto your face, but I prefer to spray into my hand then massage over skin first. For your body it can be used on dry or damp skin, and again can be sprayed either directly onto the skin or into the hand first. As my hands are a real area of concern for me, I spray it into my palm and then massage as I would hand cream.
As with your body, it can be applied to dry or damp hair and will add shine & smooth frizz without being heavy or greasy. If you have particularly dry hair or damaged ends you could use it every day. I used it on my split ends a few times, and found it lasted a couple of days before I needed to re-apply.
As I said this oil smells lovely, and feels gorgeous on the skin. It absorbs quickly and doesn't feel sticky or leave behind any residue so you can apply makeup on top once it's absorbed.
I've found that it's dramatically improved my skin, particularly on my face and hands where I've used it most.. no more dry patches! But it's also provided instant long-lasting moisture to other areas such as knees and elbows. Because it's so lightweight this is perfect for using all year-round and is suitable for all skin types as it won't block pores.
For a 100ml bottle it costs £29, which is actually cheaper than I expected as it does everything. I will definitely be buying another bottle when this one is empty.. but at the minute a little seems to go a very long way.
So in short, for me this lives up to the name of a miracle oil, and it does last 8 hours, so this product matches it's claims and I love it!
