As you've probably guessed by now I love fashion (if you hadn't guessed this, I'm going to assume you're not a regular here)! I'm also quite keen on award ceremonies, who isn't right? So the 2015 Cosmopolitan Fash Fest Awards are right up my street.. They chose the best brands for all the important occassions in your life. Ever wondered where the best place for denim is? Cosmo know the answer. Best for red carpet events? Yep, Cosmo know the answer to that too! You can find out more about the awards and the winners here. And you can keep on reading to read my thoughts on the winners...
Best for Denim - Topshop - Now I'm kind of torn on this.. Topshop do have a great range of denim, particularly jeans. But you pay for the Topshop label. Personally I don't think their jeans are any better than cheaper high-street stores and I struggle to find the perfect fit there. I do however have the most wonderfully fitting pair of jeans from Primark.. they cost about £5. See my point?
Best for Curves - Evans - I can't say I've ever shopped at Evans personally, but I do have friends/family who have and they all seem to be pretty pleased with the offering. A quick glance at their site shows me that they have made all the top fashion trends perfectly accessible to women who have more curves than are catered for in other stores, this is a good thing so well done Evans!
Best for Arm Candy - Very.co.uk - I love bags. You know this. But do I want to spend over £50 on a handbag? Yes of course I do.. Can I afford to spend a huge amount on a handbag? No I can't. I think Very.co.uk have a great range, something for all budgets really. But at the same time, when I've got 2 amazing bags for only £5 each from JustFor£5Pounds I kind of wonder why I need to spend any more than that.. (You can read my review here).
Best for Hot Heels - New Look - Now this I 100% agree with. New Look are brilliant for shoes. Not least because I can actually buy from both their teen and women's ranges (don't judge me, I got a great pair of boots for half the price because they were for teens.. I have small feet, I will take advantage of this)! The quality of their shoes tends to be really good, I have a pair of brogues from there that are about 5 years old now.. still going strong! The award was for Hot Heels, and New Look definitely always have a great selection of heels available, and they're never very expensive either!
Best for Luscious Lingerie - Freya - Ahh, Lingerie. We like looking at it, men like looking at it, we like buying it, do we like wearing it every single day? Probably not.. I'm sorry but a very pretty lacy number isn't what I wear when I'm squeezing in a quick trip to the gym between meetings! But nonetheless Freya do have a beautiful array of items.. I like that they go up to K cup and they do have some more sensible pieces which still look great. I'll definitely be taking a closer look at the site again soon!
Best for Statement Jewellery - Swarovski - No arguments here, I adore things that sparkle. I have a couple of swarovski pieces myself, and they always make me feel a little bit special when I wear them. You do pay a premium for the name, but actually I think the quality of the design and the actual jewellery itself makes that ok, they are beautiful!
Best for Boardroom - Next - Another award I agree with, I loved Next's new boardroom edit. I'm happy not to have to suit up all the time, but sometimes we all need to look a bit chic don't we? The cut of their jackets and trousers are all so classically flattering, whilst still looking absolutely professional. I'd wear any of their "work" clothes any day of the week, and feel fabulous whilst doing so I'm sure! (P.S. Sometimes I have to get myself dressed for work, even when at home, it makes me more productive.. right now I'm wearing a crisp white shirt, it makes me feel like working!)
Best for Online Offering - ASOS - Whilst I agree that ASOS are great, they have a lovely collection of staple pieces (tshirts etc) and some more quirky items that you might not find elsewhere (particularly with accessories) I do think that they can be slightly overpriced on some things, so whilst I always look there for inspiration, sometimes I then buy from elsewhere.
Best for Red Carpet Ready - COAST - Have you seen Coast's dresses? I mean HAVE YOU?! If you haven't you should head over to the site and take a look because they are beautiful. I want all of them. I totally agree with them receiving this award. Their range is classic and sophisticated, whilst still being bang up to date. Looking for an outfit for a special occasion? (Christmas?!?) Then seriously take a look at what Coast have on offer, you won't be disappointed; there is something for everyone. And they have a sale on at the minute... (MUST NOT BUY EVERYTHING). P.S you can see my favourite item from Coast (at the moment) below..
The Cosmo Lust-Have Award - Swarovski - Hit on this earlier for the statement jewellery award, they definitely have lust potential, but then so do other brands that won awards. I'm still happy to agree though, because it's sparkly.
Ultimate Retailer of the Year - H&M - This is a funny one for me.. I love H&M, I've shopped there for many years and my style has evolved right along with them. They are great for staple items and they have a lovely home range too. But ultimate retailer? I'm not so sure. I think they'd need to offer something that's different to the rest for that title. Plus their online orders are so slow in arriving.
So they are my thoughts on this year's Cosmopolitan Fash Fest Awards winners; let me know what you think, do you agree? Who would you choose for your winners? Drop me a comment below!
Stay safe, x
