We all want long, voluptuous lashes don't we? We're all constantly looking for a mascara that delivers. Sometimes we'll find the perfect brush but the formula lets the product down, or vice versa. Searching for the perfect mascara for me comes second only to finding the right shade of foundation.
This new mascara from Bourjois, Volume 1 Seconde, claims to 'brush' your lashes to their maximum length whilst also creating instant volume. This is apparently down to it's brush, which has wraparound spherical bristles. What are they? Well they're like round hair brushes, but for your eyelashes! According to Bourjois the small wraparound spheres wrap around your lashes to coat them with the mascara, whilst the straight bristles help to define the individual eyelashes without clumping.
The formula of the mascara itself is also something new, it contains carnauba, bee's wax and jojoba ester, which helps the mascara to stretch, which in turn makes your lashes look thicker. Bourjois say that the mascara lasts 16 hours and can be removed in a single step.
So we've all heard claims like this before, but do they stack up?
First of all I love the packaging, it's smooth and curved which makes it so easy to hold so you don't have to worry about it slipping out of your hand, and of course the fact that it's shinier than most mirrors makes it an instant standout.
I found that the mascara did lengthen my lashes, whilst still keeping them within 'natural' realms, and the thickening, volumising formula does just that, and it's an absolute dream to apply.
I can't honestly say that this mascara doesn't clump at all, it does, but a lot less than most other mascaras I've used, and the clumps are easy to brush out.
I can however completely agree with the claim of easy removal. I use baby wipes to remove my eye makeup, and this comes off with one swipe which is fantastic.
It doesn't irritate my eyes at all which can sometimes be a problem, but as it says on the tube it has been ophthalmologically tested.
I'm actually a huge fan of this mascara, and it's certainly going to be the one I reach for now. I like how it can be layered easily for a more intense look, or brushed on lightly if you just want to emphasise your natural lashes.
Bourjois' 1 Seconde Volume Mascara is available from Boots & Superdrug for £9.99 and is available in Intense Black & Intense Black Waterproof. (I tested the non-waterproof formula).
