Hello, there fellow home improvement enthusiasts! I’m thinking about starting a complete overhaul of my house’s exterior. To be honest, I’ve just found myself bored lately with the way it looks. Besides, I think there’s still a couple more weeks left before Autumn hits us with it’s blustery blasts (although the weather today did NOT get that memo). That’s more than enough time to get some work done on the outside of our homes isn’t it? The question is where to begin?! I’m thinking about starting off small and building up. If you like you can join me by following this plan. Let’s see how beautiful we can make the outside of our houses look! Cleaning The Place Up I love gardening, it's so much fun to get outside and get your hands dirty, plus it’s actually quite easy to get your garden looking presentable. You start by cutting the grass as short as possible. I don’t know about you but our area has been hit with some rather hot weeks over the summer. It’s left the front lawns a little worse for wear. So, I’m then going to sprinkle some grass grower down. In a few weeks I’m hoping my garden is green and lush again! Of course if we get all the rain that's forecast then it shouldn't take long for it to perk up! Next I’m going to start thinking about some repairs. Just little ones that I know I can handle, nothing major. For instance, I have noticed that one of the posts on my garden fence is loose, so I’ll start there. With a few nails and a hammer - a couple plasters within reach - it’ll be an easy fix. There are a few major jobs I want sorting out as well but I think I’m going to get a professional to sort those. There’s something about the idea of me fiddling around on the roof that just doesn’t feel right! Planting Shrubs And Flowers
In the back garden, I’m considering planting some vegetables. I’m totally serious; it might be nice to try living off the land. It will certainly save me a few pounds on my weekly shop as we buy lots of salad. But in the front I’m more interested in planting some flowers. After all, I want my front garden to look gorgeous and to add some natural colours seems like the right direction to take. You can see how I added some colour quickly with plug plants here. Style The Building You may remember I love decorating my front door. If you have a garage door that needs some attention you might want to replace it with one of the oak garage doors I found online. It looks incredible and I think it would give your home a real facelift! To save costs in other places, I’m going to keep improving my house windows simple. I’m just going to add a few vases of flowers and maybe some lights around the curtains. They’re certainly going to look fantastic at night I guarantee it! Look out for my next house improvement article soon and let me know what you think of this one! Stay safe, x
